Padres Superstar Believes Juan Soto Will Carry Franchise For Many Years
The San Diego Padres are possibly the most talented baseball team this season. They have superstar after superstar, and none are more accomplished than their lefty slugger Juan Soto.
Soto became a Padre last season, and although he hasn't had the best of starts to the season, he's capable of playing like the superstar he is. Many fans, including his superstar teammate Fernando Tatis Jr., believe he'll get back to it. Not only does he believe that he told Padres reporter Marty Caswell that he can't wait to see Juan carry this franchise for many years.
"Juan Soto is Juan Soto. He's going to be a great talent, he's a great player. He's put the work in, everybody in here has seen it, and I know he's going to carry this team for a long time."
A duo of Soto and Tatis would really be something to witness; however, Soto is only signed through 2025 with the Padres. The lefty slugger will be a free agent in 2025, and although the Padres would love to sign him long-term, they have yet to do so.
The 24-year-old would look for a huge contract, and it's unsure if San Diego can afford him due to their other expenses on the payroll. One thing is for sure; the Friars will do all they can to keep Soto. That's still ways away from now, but it will be something to look at.
Soto has started the season slow, but he has picked it up these past three games as he's on a three-game hitting streak. Let's hope the month of May is good to him, and he leads the Padres for many years to come.
