Owen White will represent the Texas Rangers in the MLB Futures Game, set for July 8 during All-Star Game Weekend in Seattle.

White is the Rangers’ top pitching prospect and he was announced as one of the first six players to be invited, along with the Boston Red Sox’ Marcelo Mayer, Seattle Mariners’ Jonatan Clase, San Francisco Giants’ Kyle Harrison, Pittsburgh Pirates’ Endy Rodríguez and Philadelphia Phillies’ Justin Crawford.

The game will feature an American League vs. National League format after two decades of USA vs. the World.

White recently made his Triple-A debut as a starting pitcher with the Round Rock Express. Ge threw five innings of one-hit baseball, giving up two runs (both earned) and three walks while striking out four.

With Double-A Frisco, White went 2-3 with a 3.51 ERA in 12 starts. In 56 1/3 innings, he struck out 48 and walked 23. Earlier this season he was named the Texas League Player of the Week.

White also made his Major League debut on June 13 against the Los Angeles Angels. White was returned to Double-A Frisco after his debut.

White threw two innings of relief, giving up three runs (earned), four hits and a walk while striking out two.

The Rangers drafted him out of high school in 2018 and paid $1.5 million to sign the second-round pick. Less than a year after the draft, he had Tommy John surgery. He broke his hand in his 2021 professional debut after slamming it to the ground following an error.

White ended 2021 at the Arizona Fall League and came away with Pitcher of the Year honors.
