Texas Rangers Slugger Adolis Garcia Added To Home Run Derby Field
Adolis Garcia will compete in the All-Star Game Home Run Derby Monday in Seattle.
Garcia, who hit his 22nd homer Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox, was named an All-Star reserve on Sunday. He's one of six Texas Rangers players selected.
The Derby field of eight sluggers includes first-round matchups of Luis Robert Jr. vs. Adley Rutschman, Pete Alonso vs. Julia Rodriguez, Mookie Betts vs. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Garcia vs. Randy Arozarena.
This is the third consecutive season a Rangers player has competed in the Home Run Derby. Joey Gallo and Corey Seager were in the field in 2021 and 2022.
The Rangers have a franchise-record four players voted by fans to start Tuesday's All-Star Game, including second baseman Marcus Semien, shortstop Seager, third baseman Josh Jung, and catcher Jonah Heim. Garcia and pitcher Nathan Eovaldi were named as reserves.
