The Texas Rangers are being represented by a franchise-record four starters in the MLB All-Star Game.

Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Jonah Heim and rookie Josh Jung will take up four of the five infield spots for the American League. But those Rangers going to the July 11 showcase expect a few more teammates along for the ride.

Rangers outfielder Adolis García and starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi immediately come to mind as Rangers that could join the festivities in Seattle. They’re credentials are certainly All-Star worthy.

Reserves and pitchers will be announced next week. Pitchers are chosen by the All-Star Game manager, while reserves are a combination of the manager’s input and players’ vote. Dusty Baker of the Houston Astros is managing the AL squad.

García was up for starting spot in fan voting, but didn’t make the cut as the Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout, Tampa Bay Rays’ Randy Arozarena and New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge finished as the top three outfielders.

After Friday night’s 5-3 loss to the Astros, García is slashing .263/.332/.510. His 20 home runs going into the Houston series were third in the AL and he was tied for the league lead with 66 RBI. García, an All-Star in 2021, also leads the AL in outfield assists with 10.

“He definitely got my vote,” Semien said. “The players get to vote. I know Dusty and his staff will have some input as well.”

Eovaldi, an All-Star in 2021 with the Boston Red Sox, has stepped up as the ace of the Texas staff in the absence of Jacob deGrom. The veteran right-hander is 9-3 with a 2.82 ERA. He’s tied for second in the AL in wins and fifth in ERA.

“Hopefully, I’m catching Eovaldi,” Heim said, “and it’ll be easy on me and I’ll know what to expect.”

Should both García and Eovaldi get selected, the Rangers would have six All-Stars. The franchise record is seven in 2012 – Adrian Beltre, Joe Nathan, Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, Mike Napoli, Matt Harrison and Elvis Andrus.
