Three Rangers Minor Leaguers in Latest Top 100 Prospects List
Three Texas Rangers prospects remain among the Top 100 prospects in baseball, according to a re-rank of the Top 100 by Baseball America.
Baseball America based the re-rank on the first two months of action and reflects the performance of players around baseball, along with those who may have graduated from prospect status based on service time in the Major Leagues.
The Rangers’ top overall prospect didn’t change. Outfielder Evan Carter — is with Double-A Frisco — is No. 9 on the list. He is currently on the injured list and is in Surprise, Ariz., at the Rangers’ Spring Training complex for rehab.
But the offensive numbers have been there all season, as he’s batting .276 with four home runs and 25 RBI. He’s in his third year of professional baseball.
The other two Rangers prospects in the Top 100 also play at Frisco with Carter.
Right-handed pitcher Owen White is No. 86 overall. White is coming off his best outing of the season in a 9-0 win over Corpus Christi. He went seven innings for the first time this season, throwing shutout baseball and giving up just one hit. He struck out six.
In two starts in June, he has 11 strikeouts in 13 innings of work and for the season he is 2-3 with a 3.54 ERA, with 45 strikeouts and 22 walks.
Frisco infielder Luisangel Acuña wrapped up the Top 100 at No. 100. The younger brother of Atlanta star Ronald Acuña Jr. is having a great season with the RoughRiders. Entering Friday’s game Acuña was slashing .299/.368/.416/.784 with three home runs and 30 RBI. He’s also scored 32 runs and stolen 23 bases.
