Texas Rangers Set Franchise Record, Beat Orioles

The Texas Rangers have the best record in franchise history after 51 games after Saturday's win at the Baltimore Orioles.

Andrew Heaney continued the streak of impressive road starts, as the Texas Rangers reached a franchise milestone in beating the Baltimore Orioles 5-3 Saturday afternoon at Camden Yards.

The American League West-leading Rangers ran their winning streak to four and are 33-18 – the best record in club history after 51 games. Texas also won the three-game series regardless of Sunday’s finale.

Heaney improved to 4-3 after going seven innings and allowing just one run on four hits. In all five games of the current nine-game road trip, Rangers starters have given up no more than two runs in each outing.

Unlike the three home runs in Friday’s 12-2 drubbing, the Rangers relied on small ball in the second game of the series. Four runs were plated on singles with the other scoring on an error.

Marcus Semien had two hits and drove in a pair. Jonah Heim returned after an off day, racked up three hits and a RBI. Robbie Grossman also had a run-scoring single.

Rangers closer Will Smith gave up two runs in the ninth.

Dune Dunning was scheduled to start Sunday, but he’s on paternity leave after the birth of his son. Rookie left-hander Cody Bradford was called up from Triple-A Round Rock to make the spot start, his second of the season.

Baltimore is starting Kyle Bradish (2-1, 4.34), with first pitch set for 12:35 p.m. CT.
