Could the 2024 season be the final one with the Boston Red Sox for manager Alex Cora?

Cora took over the Red Sox's manager position ahead of the 2018 season and quickly has become one of the most respected managers in Major League Baseball. He led the Red Sox to the World Series in 2018 and the American League Championship Series in 2021 in his first season back with the club after missing the 2020 campaign.

The Red Sox re-hired Cora ahead of the 2021 campaign to a two-year deal with options for the 2023 and 2024 campaigns. He will be a free agent at the end of the 2024 season and clubs reportedly already are showing interest in him, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.

"Several teams have already expressed strong interest in Red Sox manager Alex Cora, who’s a free agent after the season," Nightengale said.

While there is no indication whatsoever at this point what Cora's plans are after the 2024 season, it's clear that there will be plenty of interest in his services. This isn't too surprising as he's shown that he can be one of the best managers in the game.

The timing of Cora's free agency likely couldn't have come at a better time. If the Red Sox have a solid season in 2024, it will raise Cora's price tag even higher. Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell recently signed a five-year, $40 million deal after leading the Milwaukee Brewers for years. If the Red Sox can turn things around next year, Cora could be looking at a deal just like Counsell's.
