The Boston Red Sox have a lot of work they need to do this offseason if they want to catch up to the rest of the American League East.

Boston has finished in last place in the American League East in each of the last two seasons and is at a crossroads. The Red Sox brought in Craig Breslow to replace Chaim Bloom as the club's chief baseball officer and already have been linked to multiple stars, including Orix Buffaloes phenom Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

The Red Sox need to act quickly this offseason because it sounds like some of their rivals could be looking to make major moves as well. One team that fits into the idea is the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto won 89 games last season and should be even better next year. Plus, the Blue Jays could even look into landing Chicago Cubs star Cody Bellinger in free agency, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

"Kevin Kiermaier’s likely departure opens up a spot in center field, where the Blue Jays would love to add a left-handed bat," Feinsand said. "Whether Toronto can afford to sign a free agent of Bellinger’s magnitude, however, might depend on what the Jays' plans are for potential extensions for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, who are both two years away from free agency. Given the state of the AL East, the Blue Jays will likely look to add at least one big name this winter as they try to chase down their first division title since 2015."

If the Blue Jays could land Bellinger this offseason it would be very disappointing for the Red Sox. Toronto already is solid and should get even better as its young core continues to develop. If the Blue Jays could bring someone like Bellinger into the mix, it would take them to another level. Boston has been linked to Bellinger a few times itself but a move certainly is unlikely. Red Sox fans certainly should be keeping an eye on Toronto this offseason.
