The New York Yankees certainly aren't in the position many expected them to be in.

Many pegged the Yankees as a possible World Series contender this year. Instead, the Yankees have dealt with a wide range of injuries and are just 78-77. New York could find its way back to the postseason next year with a solid move or two this upcoming offseason, but this season without a doubt has been a disappointment.

Yankees captain Aaron Judge certainly was candid when he discussed the campaign Monday afternoon, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

“There’s a lot that went wrong,” Judge said as transcribed by Hoch. “What it comes down to is, we just didn’t come out here and do our job. With the type of lineup we have, the pitching rotation, we’ve just got to show up collectively. … Every year I’ve been in New York, I’ve been in the postseason. It’s going to be a little different this offseason. It’s just going to give us more time to work and get ready for the next one.

"During Judge’s first full season in 2017, he helped to power the club into the postseason, highlighting an influx of “Baby Bombers” whose arrival seemed to advertise a bright future. But the Yankees were sent home by the Astros in the ALCS that October, then fell short in their next five attempts at a title under manager Aaron Boone, who took over in 2018."

New York likely will be tied to seemingly every big-name player available this upcoming offseason as the club looks to get back to the postseason. The Yankees clearly aren't afraid to spend and already have been linked to some possible players. It's unclear what exactly will happen this offseason, but it sounds like Judge wants the club to be busy.
