Jalen McDaniels Won’t Make Sixers Debut vs. Knicks on Friday
*UPDATE: With the NBA approving and finalizing the trade, the Sixers have upgraded Jalen McDaniels' playing status for Friday to AVAILABLE.
The Philadelphia 76ers will be without the services of their newest trade acquisition Jalen McDaniels on Friday night when they face the New York Knicks. According to a team official, the trade is still pending at this time.
Since the acquisition of McDaniels involved several players in the deal, the trade has yet to be finalized as every player has yet to go through their physicals and complete the process to join their new teams.
Although McDaniels won’t debut on Friday night against the Knicks, the veteran wing joined the team on Friday morning. Following Philadelphia’s shootaround, Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey confirmed that McDaniels had met with head coach Doc Rivers.
The Sixers struck a deal to land McDaniels in the final hours of the trade deadline on Thursday. In a four-team deal that involved the New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, and Portland Trail Blazers, the Sixers snagged McDaniels and two second-round picks in exchange for Matisse Thybulle and a second-round pick of their own.
With Thybulle on his way to Portland and McDaniels out for Friday night against New York, the Sixers have recalled the second-year guard Jaden Springer from the team’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, to add depth for their matchup.

More on Sixers Trade Deadline
The Sixers participated in a four-team trade with the Hornets, Blazers, and the Knicks to complete their acquisition of Jalen McDaniels and two second-round picks. With the trade finalized, what are the full terms of the deal?
Furkan Korkmaz is Still Around
It’s no secret that Furkan Korkmaz welcomed a trade this season. As the Turkish sharpshooter is currently out of the team’s rotation, Korkmaz was reportedly interested in garnering an opportunity to get on the court and play, whether it was in Philly or somewhere else.
Over the offseason, the Sixers traded away the veteran sharpshooter Danny Green to the Memphis Grizzlies in the deal that landed them De’Anthony Melton. While Green has finally recovered and made his debut with the Grizzlies, Memphis traded away the veteran on Thursday to the Houston Rockets. Green is likely to become available again soon.
