Isaac Okoro Showing Off His Growth With The Cavs
Probably the least likely candidate to take a last-second three-pointer is Isaac Okoro. Yet he's the one who hoisted up the shot with under a second remaining with the Cleveland Cavaliers trailing the Brooklyn Nets.
The shot was nothing but net as the players and fans looked on.
Okoro has never been known for his offense. The Cavs knew they were drafting an ultra-athletic player who was a fantastic defender when they took him with the fifth overall pick of the 2020 draft. The offense was shooting was something they hoped he would grow into.
Over the first two seasons of his NBA career, Okoro showed flashes of potential but ended up being inconsistently rather than growing. Isaac's third season in the NBA is proof that he is truly starting to evolve his game and becoming the player the organization was hoping he'd become.
Okoro started off the season struggling from the floor but once the calendar flipped so did his production. The forward shot above 40 percent from three in the month of January, February, and March. Since the All-Star break, Okoro is averaging 43 percent from behind the arc.
If you look at Okoro's stats from a distance then there may be a reason to think that he isn't improving. However, zoning in on his splits shows the growth in his game.
