The Cavs Should Pursue Terrence Ross In Buyout Market
The Cavs stood pat at this year's trade deadline and opted to not make a move for an upgrade to a wing or for a new big man. While some fans may feel disappointed with their decision to not make any trades, they do still have an opportunity to upgrade their roster even with the deadline passing.
This is possible through the league's buyout market.
Every year teams that were unsuccessful in trading a player buy them out for a variety of reasons. This season will be no different and there are already a number of names that the Cavs should have their eyes on.
The Orlando Magic made a few deals before the clock struck 3:00 PM EST, but none of them included veteran wing, Terrence Ross. There have already been reports that Ross and the Magic could be finalizing a buyout that would allow him to sign anywhere he pleases.
He hasn't officially been bought out yet, but the possibility is there. The Cavs would have to convince Ross to come to Cleveland, but they should hop on that opportunity as quickly as possible if he becomes available.
A wing is exactly what Cleveland was searching for via a trade, but they weren't able to find a deal that made sense for them short-term or long-term. Bringing in Ross would be a great piece that would strengthen their depth and give them a much-needed veteran presence.
The veteran is averaging 8.0 points and 2.0 rebounds this season so he's far from what he was in his prime, but that doesn't mean he can't contribute in a limited role.
