Donovan Mitchell Becomes The Fastest Player In NBA History To Do This
Donovan Mitchell hasn't even played a full season in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform yet, but he's already breaking NBA history and records while wearing one.
On Tuesday evening, the Cavs went down to Atlanta to take on the Hawks for a late-season matchup. There was a lot riding on this one for both teams as Cleveland continues their hunt for the three seed and Atlanta looks to stay in the playoff race.
Mitchell knew that the stakes were going to be high and that he had to continue his scoring ways if the Cavs had any hope of winning the game.
Spida started the third quarter with five quick points to cut into the Hawks' lead. However, these handful of points were more significant from an NBA history perspective.
Mitchell recorded his 10,000th career point in the third quarter making Donovan Mitchell the fastest player in history to reach this impressive milestone. He's also the fastest player to make 1,000 three-pointers. All of this was done in just 410 games.
He's playing in the sixth season of his career after spending the first five in Utah. He scored 8,234 of those 10,000 points with the Jazz, and the rest came in Cleveland.
The 2022-23 season has been a career year for Mitchell. He's averaging 27.3 points per game which is the highest of his career and even started in an All-Star game for the first time.
The Cavs are going to need Spida to keep being a scoring machine if they want to make a deep playoff run.
