Donovan Mitchell's Comments On Madison Square Garden's Playoff Atmosphere
The last few months have not gone how Cleveland Cavaliers fans expected. First, the team was eliminated by the New York Knicks in the NBA Playoffs after just five games. Shortly after this, Donovan Mitchell took a picture with a Knicks executive while playing golf together.
Another chapter to this offseason just started as Mitchell glorified the New York crowd.
While making an appearance on Tidal League, Mitchell said this about MSG:
There are two ways to look at this.
The first one is to realize that Mitchell is from New York, grew up a Knicks fan, and admitted he thought he was going to be traded there last summer. Of course, there is going to be some excitement and joy when playing in a playoff game in an arena you grew up dreaming about.
However, there is also the perspective of Cleveland fans. Continuously complimenting and praising a team and fan base that just eliminated you from the playoffs may not come off as the best look.
Especially considering Mitchell struggled in that series and even admitted he "played like sh--"
Spida is under contract with the Cavs through the 2026 season and then has a player option, so there isn't a ton of reasons to be concerned about a potential trade or trade request right now.
But I couldn't blame fans for feeling a little frustrated with how it's all played out.
