Both Donovan Mitchell and Dillion Brooks were ejected after an on-court brawl ensued on Thursday night. Right after it happened, basketball fans assumed that further punishments would be handed out and the NBA wasted no time in doing so.

This is what each player faces following the incident:

Donovan Mitchell - Fined

Let's start with the Cavaliers' own Donovan Mitchell. The NBA fined him $20,000 for his role in Thursday night's skirmish. This included throwing the ball at Dillion Brooks and also getting up and shoving him.

Brooks may have started the entire situation but you can't deny Mitchell did escalate the situation, even if it was justified.

Cleveland's guard also made multiple comments about Brooks to the media and called for the NBA front offices to come down harsher on some of the questionable plays Brooks has made over the last few years.

Players have typically been fined in the past for their criticism of officiating so it wouldn't be surprising if this also played into his fine.

Some may think that even the $20,000 is too much how the events transpired but the NBA clearly pinpointed who was at fault for the entire altercation with their next punishment.

Dillion Brooks - Suspended

Dillion Brooks easily got the harsher end of the two. The NBA has suspended him for one game without pay following his cheap shot of Mitchell below the belt and rolling over his ankle.

Mitchell was pretty adamant after the game that this sort of play from the Memphis guard is nothing new. Even if it wasn't directed toward him, Mitchell made it clear that Brooks does these sorts of things on a regular basis.

There's no room for any sort of cheap shots in basketball. Players already miss too many games due to injury and we don't need to see a player missing an extended amount of time from a play that could easily have been avoided.

The NBA appears to be making this message clear to Brooks and other players that this will not be tolerated and now he'll have a full game to think about it.
