Three Bold Predictions For Game One Of Cavs-Knicks Playoff Series
The Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks will play game one of their first-round playoff series at 6:00.
This matchup has quickly become one of the most intriguing and anticipated matchups in the first round in both the Eastern and Western Conferences. These are three bold predictions heading into game one.
Donovan Mitchell Scores 40 Or More Points
Donovan Mitchell is coming off a career regular season where he averaged a career-high 28.3 points per game. He was one of the best scores in the league this season and didn't slow down toward the end of the season.
Spida finished his final four games in the regular season scoring at least 40 points in those games and he never fails to go silent in the big moments. There's a good chance that we see him go off for the start of the playoffs.
Knicks Out Rebound Cavs
The Cavs are a good rebounding team, but the Knicks are statistically better.
New York averaged 46.6 total rebounds per game this season (3rd in the NBA) compared to the Cavs' 41.1 (25th in the NBA). The Knicks also outrebounded the Cavs in all four meetings in the regular season.
The battle in the paint with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley on Cleveland's side, and Mitchell Robinson, Julius Randle, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Obi Toppin is going to be something to watch all game. However, in the end, it will be the Knicks who come out on top.
Cavs Win Game One
A lot of people are questioning the Cavs' ability to win this series because of their inexperience in the playoffs. While we'll have to wait for at least four games to see if that outcome is true, Cleveland is in a prime position to win game one.
The Cavs had a home record of 31-10 which was one of the best in the NBA during the regular season. They're comfortable playing in front of their home crowd and combining that with some extra playoff adrenaline could be a great recipe to take an early series lead.
