Saturday night in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jayson Tatum will partake in the MTN DEW® 3-Point Contest for the second time in his career. Tatum and Jaylen Brown did so in 2021, but Stephen Curry emerged victorious.

This season, Tatum's taking a career-high 9.3 three-point attempts and converting them at a 35.3 percent clip. For his career, he's knocking down 37.7 percent of the 6.3 shots he hoists from beyond the arc.

Tatum joins a field of participants featuring Kevin Huerter of the Sacramento Kings, the Miami Heat's Tyler Herro, Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers, Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons of the Portland Trail Blazers, and Lauri Markkanen of the franchise hosting the event, the Utah Jazz.

Tatum already has an NBA All-Star Weekend championship trophy from when he banked in a half-court shot to beat Trae Young in the Skills Challenge in 2019.

Tatum, now a four-time All-Star, is starting in the event for the third-straight year. While his first two opportunities to do so came as an injury replacement for Kevin Durant, he got voted into the starting five this year.

Tatum's averaging 30.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. Those would represent career highs for him in each respective category. He's also swiping 1.1 steals per game, nearly matching his season-best 1.2 in 2020-21, and swatting almost a shot per contest (0.8).

Jaylen Brown earned his second-career All-Star Game selection, but his status for the game is uncertain due to a recently suffered facial fracture.

In a pregame media availability before the Celtics' 119-109 win over the Grizzlies on Sunday, Brown said, "I can't give any determinations long term because I'm just taking it day-to-day."

And with Boston boasting the Eastern Conference's (and the NBA's) best record, now 41-16, Joe Mazzulla and the Celtics coaching staff also earned a place in Sunday's All-Star Game, which tips off at 8 pm EST.
