It's been nearly two months since star point guard Damian Lillard requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Miami Heat, yet he's still a member of the former. And a report from the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson indicates that the two teams aren't close to getting a deal done.

“As of early this week, the Blazers have expressed no enthusiasm for the Heat’s assets or interest in engaging in serious negotiations,” Jackson wrote.

Lillard, 33, has played 11 seasons in the NBA, all as a member of the Trail Blazers franchise. He averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 0.9 steals per game across 58 appearances during the 2022-23 regular season (all starts).

The 6-foot-2 point guard has accomplished a whole lot in his NBA career from an individual standpoint. He is a seven-time All-Star, seven-time All-NBA selection, and was named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.

Jackson's update on trade talks between the Trail Blazers and Heat is good news for the Celtics. After all, if the Heat acquire Lillard, they'll be the favorite to represent the Eastern Conference in the 2024 NBA Finals.
