NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is contemplating his NBA future, including thoughts of retirement after his 20th season in the league. If James does play next season, and it's not for the Lakers, BetOnline has the LA Clippers with the third-best odds to acquire him:

In his report, Haynes wrote, "Lakers star LeBron James is uncertain if he'll be with the team when the 2023-24 NBA season starts in the fall, and retirement is under consideration, league sources tell Bleacher Report, TNT. 'I'm simply not sure if I'll be back in the fall when the season begins,' James told Bleacher Report. 'I have a lot to think about.' James is expected to take his time in deciding if he'll return for Year 21. He has two years, $97 million remaining on his contract, but the final year is a player option."

In BetOnline's odds, the Clippers trailed only the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers as the likeliest to acquire James if he did not begin next season with the Lakers. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Dallas Mavericks were given the next-best odds to acquire James

There are a lot of differing opinions on the likelihood of James leaving the Lakers - or basketball on general, and this will certainly be a story to follow throughout the summer.
