LA Clippers guard Russell Westbrook will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night for the first time since being traded away earlier this season. While Westbrook was not made available for media at Tuesday's practice, his teammates spoke on the significance of this matchup both for him and the team.

"We know what's been said [in] the media, what's been said about him and his time there," Norman Powell said when asked about Westbrook facing the Lakers. "We've always shown him support since day one, since he's got here and bringing him into the fold, bringing him into the family."

Powell added, "For any player, going up against a former organization that you were just with, you want to kind of stick it to them. So I think it's an important game for him and us as well."

Former Lakers center Ivica Zubac said, "There’s always motivation against a team that got rid of you, you want to prove them wrong."

While Zubac acknowledged that element, he also added, "We all know what our goal is for that game. We need a win. It’s not about individual performance, what you can get individually. It’s all about team performance."

There is a lot on the line for both the Clippers and the Lakers in this game, and the significance goes beyond Russell Westbrook facing his former team.
