Despite being one of the greatest players in NBA history, Russell Westbrook is regularly bashed by the media and opposing fanbases. This is something Westbrook has dealt with throughout the majority of his career, but it certainly became heightened during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Joining LA Clippers star Paul George on a recent episode of Podcast P, which is presented by Wave Sports and Entertainment, Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan defended Westbrook, saying nobody in the NBA has anything bad to say about him.

"I guarantee you it’s not one peer in our organization who will ever disrespect Russell in no type of way," DeRozan said. "Everybody understands how much of a legend he is to the game of basketball... That’s the type of player I would step on the court with every single game."

DeRozan talked about the impact of NBA media, and how it can create false narratives about a player that are completely separate from reality. Westbrook has league-wide respect, which is something so many different players around the NBA have spoken about.

While some in the media have tried to portray Westbrook in a negative light, the 2017 league MVP has the respect of his peers around the NBA, many of which have spoken against the negativity that often surrounds his name.
