Kawhi Leonard Reacts to Russell Westbrook's Offensive Role on LA Clippers
Russell Westbrook has been doing everything that the LA Clippers have asked of him. He's closed games in overtime, he's not played fourth quarters, and he's hit clutch shots in the fourth quarter. In the most recent game against the Toronto Raptors, Russell found himself in a new role - a short roller.
The LA Clippers are now on a two-game winning streak after losing their first five games with Russell Westbrook, and Kawhi Leonard was asked about Westbrook as a successful short roller in that span.
"It's just a play," Kawhi Leonard said. "The play that we were running. Russ is going to do what we need to do to execute on the offensive end. It's not really his role to just role, I would say. Those are the plays at the time that we called. If I was in that possession I would be rolling. I just keep preaching that he's being himself, he's been doing a great job, he's helping us."
It's taken some time, but Russell Westbrook has finally started finding some success with the LA Clippers. He closed the game against the Memphis Grizzlies with a very clutch layup, but didn't play the entire fourth quarter against the Toronto Raptors. Westbrook has been a true team player for the Clippers, and his ability to do so is something that both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George truly appreciate.
