Having played 38 minutes in an overtime victory last night, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is being listed as questionable for Wednesday night’s game against the LA Clippers. This is a crucial game in the standings for both teams, as the Clippers and Lakers enter play on Wednesday night with identical records.

The Clippers have already clinched the tiebreaker over the Lakers, having defeated them each of the first three times they have played, but this matchup will create one game of separation one way or the other. The loser of this game will put themselves in serious risk of falling into the play-in tournament. While there is some discussion about Western Conference teams hoping to avoid the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs, priority number one at this point for both the Lakers and the Clippers is securing a top-six finish and avoiding the play-in.

The winner of this game will have a much more direct path to a top-six finish, and still could have the opportunity to manipulate seeding without falling into the play-in tournament. The loser of this game will be much more restricted in their path to a top-six finish, which adds another level of significance to this Lakers vs. Clippers matchup.

It has not been often throughout the course of NBA history that the Lakers and the Clippers have been near each other in the standings at this point in the season. With both teams having championship aspirations, this is arguably the biggest game they have ever played against each other.
