After taking a shot to the face in Saturday night's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard exited the game and did not return. The Clippers did not offer an update on the severity of Leonard's injury, but they did officially label it a face contusion for the star forward.

Head coach Ty Lue was asked for an update on Leonard after the game, but said he did not yet have one. In a report from The Athletic's Law Murray, it was revealed that the current concern surrounding Leonard's face contusion is low.

Murray added that Leonard had a headache from the blow to the face, but there was not any major concern about the severity of his injury. The Clippers will release their official injury report around 5:00 PM PST on Sunday night, which will announce the status of Kawhi Leonard for Monday night‘s game against the Chicago Bulls. It seems unlikely that this is the type of injury that would force Leonard to miss any time, but there is always the possibility of concussion protocol being a factor.

If it is just a face contusion, and Leonard is not dealing with any lingering head issues, he could break out a face mask for however long it was needed. As of right now, the good news is that concern seems to be low when it comes to Leonard's facial injury, and it hopefully will not force him to miss any time at all. The Clippers cannot afford to lose Leonard for any amount of time, especially with Paul George already sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.
