It was widely reported on Wednesday that Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns are exploring multiple options for his future. These options include the possibility of Paul returning to Phoenix next season, but also the possibility of him being elsewhere. Should the veteran guard enter free agency, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the LA Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers would be amongst the teams especially interested.

Wojnarowski did not go into detail on the level of this interest for the Clippers or Lakers, but mentioned Paul still keeps his offseason home in Los Angeles, and the two teams in that city would be amongst those especially interested in acquiring him.

The Clippers have publicly expressed their desire to re-sign Russell Westbrook, which likely remains their first option even with this latest Chris Paul development. Should Westbrook sign elsewhere, then Paul to the Clippers would make more sense; however, for now it feels more likely that the Lakers would be in play.

From what has been publicly expressed by both Westbrook and the Clippers, it's reasonable to assume there is a mutual interest in continuing their partnership. That said, Westbrook potentially played himself out of LA's price range, which makes it understandable why the team would be linked to a point guard like Paul.

With Paul still needing to sort out his situation with Phoenix, and both LA teams needing to make decisions on their own free agents, it's too early to predict how this will all play out.
