With his 3rd assist on Saturday afternoon, LA Clippers point guard Russell Westbrook overtook Isiah Thomas for 9th place on the NBA's all-time assists list. When asked about this after the win over the New York Knicks, Westbrook said he never imagined hearing his name up there with some of the greats like Thomas.

"I'm truly grateful," Westbrook said. "I give all my thanks to the man above for allowing me and blessing me with talent and the ability to play the game for a long period of time. Obviously being on that list is great. I think just as point guard like myself, and the different conversations that I've had to overcome over my career, to be [here] on the assist side of it is a special thing."

Westbrook has been entirely bought into his role with the Clippers, whether that has been 35 minutes and a closing role, or 25 minutes with no action in the fourth quarter. His leadership and overall persona have been great for the team, and that is something everybody around him has spoken extensively about.

With a chance to climb even further up the all-time assist ranks if he can keep his current production up for a couple more seasons, Westbrook is already one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game.
