Needing one more win to secure a spot in the playoffs, the LA Clippers are not resting any of their healthy players on Sunday afternoon against the Phoenix Suns. It is an interesting situation, because while some have argued that the Clippers should prefer a match up with the Sacramento Kings, and subsequently tank to get 6th, there is no real safe path to doing that.

If the Clippers tanked this final game of the season in an attempt to avoid Phoenix in round one, a Pelicans win on Sunday would send LA into the play-in tournament. This is a risk the Clippers simply cannot take, and their injury report reflects that.

Superstar forward Kawhi Leonard will play just his second back to back of the season, having played yesterday afternoon against the Portland Trail Blazers. The only players ruled out for the Clippers are Paul George and Marcus Morris.

For Phoenix, it is an entirely different situation, as they are locked into the 4th seed. Because of this, the Suns will be resting Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Bismack Biyombo, Cameron Payne, and T.J. Warren. Up against a bunch of reserves, the Clippers need to take care of business and secure their spot in the playoffs. A win guarantees them the 5th seed, and a loss risks the possibility of falling to 7th.

Having worked hard to put themselves in a position to make the playoffs after and up and down regular season, the Clippers need to finish the job on Sunday.
