Another Grizzlies Player Out Multiple Weeks With Injury
While the Memphis Grizzlies knew they would begin this season without Ja Morant, they did not know they would quickly lose several other players to injuries. The latest player to be sidelined for multiple weeks is young forward Jake LaRavia, who the Grizzlies announced is out for at least 2-3 weeks after undergoing a procedure to address a corneal abrasion of his left eye.
LaRavia joins Ja Morant, Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke, Luke Kennard, Marcus Smart, and Xavier Tillman on the injury report for the Grizzlies, which has left the team severely shorthanded. While Memphis has not played great basketball to start the year, their injury luck cannot be overlooked. The team made some solid moves in the offseason that were supposed to help keep them afloat in Morant's absence, but even those new players have missed time.
While Derrick Rose is back from injury now, he missed several games, and his return was almost instantly met with the injury to Marcus Smart. It has been one of those stretches for Memphis, who cannot stay healthy to start the year. That said, it remains early, and the Grizzlies are hopeful there is still time to get back on track - especially with the return of Morant growing nearer.
While LaRavia is not a major contributor, the Grizzlies need as many healthy players as possible right now.
