Derrick Rose Shares Heartfelt Message For Ja Morant's Return

Derrick Rose is a true leader to Morant

When Derrick Rose was brought to the Memphis Grizzlies, he was brought in to be not only a backup to Ja Morant but also a mentor. Rose showed just that, when his first order of action upon Ja's return to Memphis was taking the microphone to share a heartfelt message.

“And on behalf of the fans, I want to say welcome back Ja,” Rose said before the game. “We proud of you shorty. Stay locked in and we appreciate you. Stay blessed.”

It may seem like Rose's gesture wasn't a big deal, but it's one to show that the entire Grizzlies roster is still with Ja Morant. The team could have some hostility toward Morant for getting suspended, but instead, they're rallying behind him. Rose is leading the forefront in making sure fans and critics understand that the Memphis Grizzlies are one with Ja Morant.

Since Ja Morant's return, the Memphis Grizzlies have gone undefeated with a 2-0 record against the New Orleans Pelicans and Indiana Pacers. Neither one of those teams is a pushover, and the Grizzlies are starting to show that they can actually hang with other NBA Playoff teams. They couldn't do it without Morant, but they're starting to get it done now.

Up next for the Memphis Grizzlies is the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST.
