Former Grizzlies Coach Joins Championship Contending Team
Dave Joerger is one of the more beloved coaches in Grizzlies history, leading the Grit & Grind Grizzlies to the second round against the Golden State Warriors in 2015. Now, it looks like he may be joining a new team.
According to a report from Shams Charania, former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger will be joining Doc Rivers' coaching staff with the Milwaukee Bucks. It'll be an immediate opportunity for Joerger to compete for a championship ring as the Bucks are in a win-now mode with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
In the three years that Joerger was the coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, the team went to the playoffs every single year. In 2013-14, they lost in the first round against the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games. In 2014-15, they lost in the second round against the Golden State Warriors in six games. In 2015-16, they lost against the San Antonio Spurs in four games. The Grizzlies may not have seen ultimate success when Joerger coached them, but they were never the favored team in each series. The Thunder had an MVP Kevin Durant, the Warriors won the championship, and the Spurs were an absolute monster.
Hopefully, by joining the Milwaukee Bucks, Joerger can achieve the grand success of winning an NBA Championship that he couldn't receive in Memphis.
