Former NBA Player Makes Controversial Luka Doncic Statement
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is having another incredible season. Putting up MVP-caliber numbers, Doncic has been talked about in that discussion at times, but his team's overall record will likely hold him back from being a finalist for the award.
The struggles Dallas has had this season, and really the last couple of seasons, have sparked a discussion about the play style of Doncic. The same conversations happened when James Harden was putting up historic numbers with the Houston Rockets, as both Harden and Doncic spend a lot of time with the ball in their hands.
Harden's role has of course changed quite a bit since leaving Houston, but Doncic is very much the focal point of everything the Mavericks do offensively. During a recent appearance on FanDuel's Run it Back show, former NBA player Chandler Parsons shared a controversial opinion on Doncic’s style.
"I think [Luka Doncic] is an unbelievable talent," Parsons said. "He's literally a guard version of [Nikola] Jokic, where he can do anything... But as a teammate, it's a little exhausting watching the same sh-t over and over again."
Parsons played for the Dallas Mavericks for two seasons, but that was before Doncic came to the NBA. Parsons then went to the Memphis Grizzlies for three seasons. While Parsons' opinion is held by many, it is certainly controversial as well, especially with his point about the potential frustration of Doncic's teammates.
