Grizzlies Star Reveals Trash Talk With Dillon Brooks

Dillon Brooks revealed why Desmond Bane received a tech.

Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane may trash-talk each other on the court, but the two are still great friends. Unfortunately, NBA referees don't seem to know that and gave a technical foul during their banter.

After the game, Dillon Brooks revealed what was said between the two that caused the technical foul, and it honestly wasn't that bad.

"I can't dribble," Brooks said. "That I was complicating and that I should have blown right by him. It's just friendly competition, and that's been my rook for a long time. I'm glad the way he's growing."

Desmond Bane agreed with Brooks in that it was just two men being competitive toward one another. It's an aspect of the game that NBA referees don't seem to truly understand.

"It's me and Dillon," Bane said. "I think if the refs know it's just competitive nature, nothing crazy was said. I don't think it warranted a technical foul. That's just kind of the officiating these days."

If the two players had bad blood toward each other and were getting close to initiating a fight, then it would have been understandable for a technical foul to get assessed. Unfortunately, the modern-day NBA tries to suck as much fun out of as humanly possible. Players aren't allowed to show emotion, they aren't allowed to hang on the rim, and they aren't allowed to show any personality. It's a robotic game of everyone spreading the floor, shooting the three, and running the court.
