Ja Morant Gives Emotional Update After Surgery

Ja Morant's season is over after a devastating shoulder injury.

Once Ja Morant returned to the Grizzlies on December 19, it seemed like the season was about to turn around for the franchise. The team went on a four-game winning streak and defeated legitimate opponents like the New Orleans Pelicans, but it all went away as quickly as it came.

On January 8, the Memphis Grizzlies revealed that Ja Morant underwent season-ending shoulder surgery on his torn labrum. He only played nine games this season before ultimately being ruled out for the rest of the year. Still, Morant is trying to find the bright side of the situation.

Ja Morant broke his silence on the injury in an Instagram post where he stated:

"What you went thru has a purpose. So does your life. Focus on your life's purpose and you will get thru this trying time."

Despite Morant's devastating injury, the Memphis Grizzlies keep finding ways to survive this season - that's even with other starters like Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart being ruled out as well. Most recently, the team shockingly defeated the Golden State Warriors while missing four starters on Monday night.

With a 15-25 record, it's going to be very difficult for the Memphis Grizzlies to make the playoffs this season. They're 4.5 games out of a play-in spot and still have a chance, but it's going to require much better luck than they've already had this season.
