Key Player Unexpectedly Downgraded for Heat vs. Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies are set to face the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, and starting guard Luke Kennard has been downgraded to questionable with right thigh soreness.
Kennard has been huge for Memphis since stepping in as a starter in the absence of Ja Morant, Marcus Smart, and Demsond Bane, averaging 13.8 PPG and 4.4 APG on 50% from deep as a starter this season. Injuries have forced Kennard to miss some time this season, but he has been fantastic whenever he has been out there.
With Memphis already being down so many key players, Kennard missing any more time would be a very big blow. With the questionable listing there is of course still the chance that Kennard is good to go for this game, but his status is now something to monitor in between now and game time.
Memphis has fought hard in the absence of so many key players, competing every single night despite being down most of their usual rotation. Players like Kennard have been a big reason why the Grizzlies have remained competitive over the last few weeks, so hopefully this status downgrade is nothing too serious for him.
The Grizzlies and Heat are set to begin this one at 7:30 PM EST, and Kennard should receive a final status update shortly before the game begins.
