Kyrie Irving's Injury Status vs. Grizzlies Revealed
The Memphis Grizzlies are set to face the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, but they will not have to deal with Kyrie Irving. After a scary collision with his teammate Dwight Powell, Irving has been ruled out for this game with a right heel contusion.
It was a very scary moment when Powell fell on Irving‘s foot, and it seems he and the team are fortunate that it is just a contusion. That said, the Mavericks star is out for this game against the Grizzlies, which will place even more responsibility on Luka Doncic.
The Grizzlies are of course very shorthanded themselves, missing several key contributors, including superstar point guard Ja Morant. The Grizzlies and Morant are counting down the games until he is able to return, as that number sits at just four games now.
Even with Irving sidelined, this will be a very tough game for the Grizzlies to get. Doncic is on another level this season, and has the Mavericks playing really good basketball. Dallas currently sits in third place in the Western Conference, percentage points above both the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers, who also sit four games back of first place. With one less loss than both of those teams, Dallas currently gets the edge for the third seed.
It has been a much different story for Memphis, who has been playing a bit better of late, but still sits five games back of a play-in spot.
