LeBron James Reacts to Austin Reaves' Massive Game 1 vs Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies dropped a very disappointed Game 1 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday afternoon, mainly due to the heroics of both Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves.
At one point in the fourth quarter, Austin Reaves waived off LeBron James and took on the Grizzlies by himself to make a successful basket. Reaves ended up with 23 points last night, even more than LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Last season, no one could have predicted that Austin Reaves would have developed into a playoff player of this caliber - except LeBron James.
“I knew from the first practice that he wasn’t going to be a two-way for long," LeBron James said after the game. "I’ve been around the game long enough to know great basketball IQ players... and the [guys] that fit with me."
Austin Reaves' performance against the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 wasn't an outlier performance this season. The Grizzlies need to anticipate a performance like this happening again, otherwise, they'll be experiencing a loss yet again. One may consider what Rui Hachimura did as an outlier, but definitely not Austin Reaves.
The Memphis Grizzlies were neck-and-neck with the Los Angeles Lakers for the majority of Game 1, until the final incredibly disappointing two minutes. They may be without Ja Morant as they enter Game 2, and they'll either need to play better defense or start shooting better shots.
