Major Trade Idea Between Grizzlies and Raptors Proposed
The Memphis Grizzlies went 6-19 in the absence of Ja Morant, but the star point guard's return to the lineup has already shifted the outlook of their season. A perfect 2-0 since Morant returned, the Grizzlies have their sights set on a playoff push, but they could certainly use some additional help.
In a recent article from Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, a major hypothetical trade was proposed that lands the Grizzlies OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Luke Kennard, Ziaire Williams, a 2024 first-round pick, a 2026 first-round pick (top-five-protected), and a 2028 first-round pick.
Anunoby is a player who has been floated in trade rumors for a while now, as speculation surrounding the future direction of the Raptors continues. While this trade would give the Grizzlies a very high-level starting wing alongside Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr., that is a lot to part with.
While Kennard has been injured for much of this season, his shooting and gravity were both crucial for the Grizzlies last season. Williams has not shown much at the NBA level, but remains an intriguing prospect. As for the three future first round picks, this is where the deal because very expensive for Memphis.
With a while to go until the trade deadline, a lot can change for the Grizzlies and other teams, but Memphis could be a prime candidate to deal for a talent upgrade.
