It was announced by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowksi on Wednesday afternoon that the Memphis Grizzlies are signing Vince Williams Jr. to a three-year, $7.9M guaranteed contract. To make room on the roster, Memphis is waiving Bismack Biyombo.

In series of Tweets, Wojnarowksi revealed the details of these two big moves, writing the following:

"(1) ESPN Sources: Memphis Grizzlies G/F Vince Williams Jr. is expected to sign a new three-year, $7.9M guaranteed contract. Williams — 47th overall pick out of VCU in 2022 — is believed to be getting the most guaranteed money coming off of a two-way deal. (2) Williams' deal includes a team option on the fourth year, sources tell ESPN. Williams has been another good development story for the Grizzlies and now gets rewarded with some contractual security. (3) The Grizzlies are waiving center Bismack Biyombo, sources tell ESPN. He made a good impact with franchise and could be brought back again. Memphis is expected to add another big on a newly available two-way contract."

As Wojnarowksi noted, this may not be the end of Biyombo's time in Memphis, but this was the move that needed to be made in order to convert Williams into a standard contract. The Grizzlies have been impressed with what Williams has provided, and will now be keeping him around for the next few seasons.
