Memphis Grizzlies Sign Former Ivy League Player of the Year

The Grizzlies signed a former Princeton star.

After having only eight active players available for their last game, the Memphis Grizzlies have found themselves in need of signing numerous players. Most recently, the Grizzlies signed former Princeton star Tosan Evbuomwan.

According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski, the Memphis Grizzlies are signing G League forward Tosan Evbuomwan to a 10-day contract. He averaged 15 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists for the G League Motor City Cruise.

Tosan Evbuomwan was undrafted out of Princeton's Sweet 16 team and actually won Ivy League Player of the Year in 2022. He was a 2x First-team All-Ivy League in 2022 and 2023. In terms of potential, there's definitely something there for Tosan Evbuomwan. He also represented Great Britain at the 2019 FIBA U18 European Championship, where he averaged 10.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.

The situation that the Memphis Grizzlies are in, calls for signings like this. The team has figured out ways to survive despite all of their injuries, but the workload is certainly weighing on a roster of only eight players. While the play-in tournament isn't completely dead for the Grizzlies, it's getting to the point of wondering whether the struggle is worth it. Right now, if the Grizzlies can find a hidden gem through the G League, it'll put them in a fantastic spot for next season.
