Star Player Ruled OUT for Grizzlies vs. Jazz
The Memphis Grizzlies are set to face the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, but they will not have to deal with star forward Lauri Markkanen, as he has been ruled out due to a left hamstring strain. Markkanen has missed the last two games with this injury, and will again be sidelined for this one.
In his 15 games this season, Markkanen is averaging 23.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG, and shooting a very efficient 48.4% from the field and 38.3% from deep. An All-Star last season, Markkanen really broke out in his first year with the Utah Jazz, averaging 25.6 PPG, 8.6 RPG, and shooting a very impressive 49.9% from the field and 39.1% from deep.
Solidifying himself as a star in this league Markkanen has been one of the lone bright spots for a Utah Jazz team that is going through a transitional phase right now. Having pivoted away from the Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert era two seasons ago, Utah is optimistic about what their future looks like, but it will be a little while until they are truly back in the Western Conference playoff mix.
That said, this is still a Jazz team with some talented players, and the Grizzlies will have to approach this game with the right level of focus - especially considering their own struggles this season.
