Unexpected Player Makes History in 76ers vs Grizzlies
The shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies faced off against the shorthand Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night, in what may be one of the more unexpected games of the year.
It was a game missing Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, Derrick Rose, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and a plethora of other players, but it was still an exciting game that went down to the wire. The Grizzlies were down by as many as 15 points but then erupted for a 34-16 fourth quarter to take the win.
The Grizzlies wouldn't have been able to complete the comeback if it weren't for the play of Jake LaRavia off the bench. LaRavia put up 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks on 47/50/75 shooting. In fact, he made history in the process.
According to a stat by Shawn Coleman, Jake LaRavia became only the third bench player in history to put up 19+ points, 13+ rebounds, 3+ blocks, and 2+ threes in a single game.
While this Grizzlies season has been a very tiring one from an injury standpoint, the play of certain underdog players has been an absolute silver lining. GG Jackson has stepped up in huge moments, and so now has Jake LaRavia.
The Memphis Grizzlies certainly have some great young pieces to work with when Ja Morant and the rest of the crew return next season.
