While the Memphis Grizzlies have really struggled to start the new season, there have been a few bright spots. One of these has been Derrick Rose, who continues to provide Memphis with quality minutes late into his career.

Turning in a vintage performance on Friday nigh in the loss to the Phoenix Suns, Rose finished with 17 points on 8/9 from the field. Scoring from everywhere on the court, Rose did his damage from all three levels, getting buckets in the paint, midrange, and even sinking one three:

As previously mentioned, there have not been many bright spots for the Grizzlies this season, and there were not many in this game either. That said, the Grizzlies know they will need Rose and others performing at a high level for them to get back in the playoff mix, so a game like this is always a good sign.

When Rose signed with the Grizzlies, many believed he was being brought in as a mentor for Ja Morant. While the relationship between the two point guards is an important one, Rose made it clear he is not here to babysit Morant, and instead wants to help lead the Grizzlies on and off the court.

Getting extended minutes in the absence of so many guards, Rose has been a bright spot for Memphis in an otherwise disappointing start to the year.
