Chicago Bulls Star DeMar DeRozan Says He Patterned Game After Dwyane Wade
Chicago Bulls guard DeMar DeRozan faced Dwyane Wade 24 times during his career.
For DeRozan, each time was a chance to pick up pointers on becoming a better player. On a recent appearance on the Uninterrupted podcast, DeRozan said he began patterning his game after Wade upon entering the league in 2009.
"I was a two (guard)," DeRozan said. "I always had to deal with D-Wade. He was a (expletive), fast quick."
DeRozan parlayed mimicking Wade into becoming a six-time NBA All-Star. Wade, the greatest player in Heat history is set to enter the Hall of Fame next month in Springfield, Mass.
"That's where a lot of my game started to come, using the pump fake from D-Wade, getting to the midrange, picking your spots, using your athletic ability, getting downhill," DeRozan said. "Seeing D-Wade so much really made me feel like, `shit, I've got to add a lot of this aspect to the game."'
