Dwyane Wade Agrees With Pat Riley: He Is Greatest Player In Miami Heat History

Dwyane Wade double downs on Pat Riley's claim of him being the best Miami Heat player

Dwyane Wade had no problem agreeing with Pat Riley's claim.

During a recent appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter, Wade was asked if he felt he was the greatest player in Miami Heat history as Riley suggested. Wade held nothing back.

"Well, he's right," Wade said. "I played here for almost 15 years. I put on for that city and I gave everything to the community. I gave everything to the game. I sacrificed everything that I could to make sure that we reached the levels that we wanted to reach. It's no slight to anybody. I am [the best Heat player]."

Riley made the comments in advance of Wade entering the Hall of Fame Saturday in Springfield, Mass. He placed Wade ahead of LeBron James, who won two championships from 2010-14, because of longevity. Wade spent most of his career with the Heat while James was there just four seasons.

“LeBron [James] was here for four years and gave us a tremendous lift and helped Dwyane achieve what he wanted to achieve," Riley said. "But over the body of work here in Miami, Dwyane is the greatest player who ever played for the Heat. That’s not an insult to LeBron, that’s because of his longevity and the short term that LeBron was here.”
