Jamal Crawford Calls Dwyane Wade Third-Toughest Defensive Assignment In NBA
Former NBA player Jamal Crawford was never known for defense during his playing days.
Still, that didn't stop him from saying facing Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade meant he was in for a long night. Crawford recently called Wade the third-toughest cover he faced in his career.
He spoke about Wade last weekend while hosting his CrawsOver Pro-Am in Seattle.
“Dwyane was one of the hardest people I have ever had to guard," Crawford said. "It’s only Kobe [Bryant], [Allen] Iverson, and then D-Wade.
Wade averaged 21 points 4.5 rebounds and six assists in 33 games against Crawford. The two formed a friendship during their time in the NBA. Wade was nothing but complimentary when he was replaced by Crawford last season in the TNT broadcast booth.
“It’s not my position. JC will be himself," Wade tweeted. "His basketball knowledge is thru the roof. I can’t wait to hear his perspective and insights on the game we all love!”
Wade is the first Heat-drafted player to make the Hall of Fame. He is joined in the class by notables Dirk Nowitzki, Gregg Popovich, Tony Parker, and Paul Gasol.
Wade helped lead the Heat to three titles, winning Finals MVP in 2006. He retired as the franchise leader in points.
The Hall of Fame ceremony is Aug. 12 in Springfield, Mass.
