Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro Says He’s The ‘Best Pickleball Player In The World’

Tyler Herro dives into some of his off-court endeavors.

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro has heard his name in trade rumors all offseason in pursuit of Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard.

It’s good to see him in good spirits talking about something away from basketball. When asked about some of his off-court hobbies, he talked about his love of pickleball in an interview with NBA.com.

“I play pickleball, I’m like the best pickleball player in the world,” Herro said. “I’m a better pickleball player than basketball player.”

That's a bold declaration, considering he is among the best young shooting guards in the league.

Herro's future in Miami is undecided, considering he likely needs to be shipped elsewhere for assets to acquire Lillard from Portland. But as Heat legend Udonis Haslem point out, his achievements are nothing to frown upon. He will continue to produce for whatever team he ends up on, possibly exceeding his current standard.

Who knows? He might even go on to play professional pickleball.

“That’s what I’m gonna tell myself at 33,” Herro said when asked about potential financial gain in the sport. “‘Be ready to play pickleball somewhere.’”
