Should Kobe Bryant's Statue Encourage Miami Heat To Do Same For Dwyane Wade?
The Los Angeles Lakers are unveiling a statue honoring the late great Kobe Bryant on Feb. 8, 2024. Bryant, who spent his entire career in Los Angeles, captured five championships and 18 All-Star appearances.
Will the Miami Heat follow suit and commemorate Dwyane Wade with his own statue?
Wade is the most accomplished player in franchise history with three championships and 13 All-Star selections. Outside of a few seasons with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, Wade spent his entire career with the Heat. His 2006 NBA Finals performances remain among the most individually dominant in league history. Wade is also hailed as the player that attracted LeBron James and Chris Bosh, forming the Big Three that went to four straight Finals.
All signs point to Wade being solidified with his own statue in South Florida one day as Miami's most accomplished and recognized athlete.
But as we wait to see, let's recognize Bryant for now. His legacy in Los Angeles-and the sport overall-will remain in the basketball world for decades to come.
