This summer, Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves got to experience something that most NBA players don’t get the chance to. That would be able to have the chance to suit up for Team USA and compete for international basketball glory.

Reaves balled out with Team USA over the summer and showed that he belonged on the court with some of the best young guys that the NBA has to offer. It was an impressive showing for the young guard and something that he will never forget.

While Team USA didn’t accomplish their goal of winning a medal, it was still a great experience for Reaves, and it should really help him this coming season. He posted on social media about the opportunity, and how grateful he was for it.

Reaves should be able to hit the ground running once the Lakers open their training camp here soon. The reps and work that he got while playing for Team USA should prepare him for what to expect this coming season.

Now that he has a new contract, and is being looked at as the third-best player on the Lakers roster, the expectations for Reaves have risen. He understands this and is ready for the challenges ahead of him.

Playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Reaves has thrived in his role, and it should get even better this year. He will be given more opportunity to control the offense with the ball in his hands after it showed strong results in the playoffs last season.

It will be a big year for the third-year player, and one that could result in him winning some hardware. The Lakers are one of the favorites to win the NBA Finals, and Reaves will be a major reason why they do if they can finish the job off.
