Even Noted Lakers Hater Bill Simmons Loves LA's Free Agent Moves

Even haters can appreciate things ever now and again...
In this story:

To say the Lakers were active in the opening days of free agency would be an understatement. The team came out swinging and addresses some holes in their roster and kept most of their core from last season around. LA came into the offseason wanting to retain the pieces that helped them get to the Western Conference Finals last year and did so, plus upgraded with the limited resources they had available.

Many people around the league were impressed with the moves that LA made but one persons takes on them stood out, famous Laker hater and NBA analysts Bill Simmons. On the Bill Simmons Podcast, Simmons gave his thoughts on the Lakers moves to start free agency.

“I thought the Lakers were the second best team in the West and maybe the second best team in the whole league at the end of last season and I thought they got better and I was really impressed at what they did”

Per The Bill Simmons Podcast

Simmons was impressed with what the Lakers did and addressed it within the first few minutes of the podcast. For a guy who is a public Boston Celtics fan, this means a lot coming from him. Simmons words hold weight around NBA circles and you could tell that he meant every word.

Simmons loved the signing of former Miami Heat point guard Gabe Vincent, calling him the perfect fit around star LeBron James.

“They get Gabe Vincent from Miami whose like out of a lab to be the perfect LeBron guard off the ball”

Per The Bill Simmons Podcast

But Simmons didn't stop there and continued to praise the team.

“They have a playoff eight right now…that I think is as good as anybody in the West except for Denver”

Per The Bill Simmons Podcast

It's not that what Simmons thinks means everything but rather that a notable analyst that will criticize the Lakers at any chance isn't, means something.

The Lakers and General Manager Rob Pelinka killed the opening of free agency and they deserve all the credit. They will enter the year in a stronger position than they were last season and they will now go for banner 18.
