Lakers News: LA Used Interesting Recruiting Method During Cam Reddish's Free Agency
One of the signings for the Los Angeles Lakers that has gone somewhat unnoticed is that of forward Cam Reddish. The former lottery pick hasn’t lived up to his potential so far in the league but is still just 23-years-old. He has been linked to the Lakers for some time now and finally lands with the purple and gold.
But getting to the Lakers is quite the story as LA used some interesting tactics to land the former Portland Trailblazer. Reddish explained the story to ESPN Los Angeles on how he ended up becoming a Laker.
Reddish also added that head coach Darvin Ham mentioned defense to him multiple times. If Reddish can play strong on the defensive end, he will get minutes on the floor. Ham loves players who are selfless and who hustle on defense so Reddish will have a chance to prove himself.
Last season for the Trail Blazers, Reddish averaged 10.9 points and shot 31.8 percent from three. He will need to improve the three point shooting as well but playing alongside a player like LeBron James should help. James will be able to get Reddish some nice looks on offense and if he can knock them down, even at an average rare, he will be a steal for LA.
Reddish has been labeled as someone with a ton of potential and maybe this is the team that can help him unlock it. Assistant coach Phil Handy should be able to work with him as well and help improve his game. Handy is known as a strong development coach so Reddish could be a good candidate for his next project.
If Reddish is able to have a productive season then he will be seen as a steal for the Lakers. They can use all the help they can get from their bench players
